A Day In The Barbershop
Gooood morning and greetings from 601 West Main Street, Madison, IN. It's a pretty day and we have the windows open and some bluegrass playing on the stereo. Happy day! I cheerfully worked out a sort of budget this morning and that's saying something. I don't normally think cheerfully about money things. The making of money has always been a boring chore for me, but I actually enjoy coming to work now. I'm where I want to be.

Monday, coffee and chickens....
I now have a small flock of chickens. That is something I feel good about! 4 black chickens and an up and coming rooster with black and white feathers and huge yellow feet named Uncle Samasaurus Rex. At least I think he's a rooster. I'd bet money he is.
The 4 lovely ladies living in my backyard are Cheeks, Amelia, Eyebrows, and Yellowlegs. Cheeks is the biggest so far. She has feathers that stick out on her cheeks, hence the name. Eyeberows also has the sticky outy feathers on her cheeks, but her distinguishing feature is her EYEBROWS. Pretty yellow eyebrows. She also has white toenails on black feet and wispy tail, quite the feminine young lass. She is Tony's favorite chick. Eyebrows has many facets to her personality. She loves Uncle Samasaurus but she doesn't need to follow him around much. She checks in with him now and then. Like right now. She likes to climb up on things and peck at the tall weeds. She wanders off on her own a bit and doesn't seem too disturbed at being alone. The other day she got over into the Winkle's yard somehow and that was pretty distressing to her. Especially being corralled by Max and I and picked up. The Winkle sisters got quite a kick out of the whole thing! Nice ladies!
As much of a chore as the chickens are, I seem to be enjoying it. Even missing goddess night the other night because of tarp troubles was okay. I got a kick out of my struggles with wind and rain and loose uncooperative chickens! Good times!

Porch sittin.
This morning I was sitting on the porch around 8 am with some coffee and a blanket and the sky was grey and it was a little windy and the birds were really out chirping and singing. The morning was very alive. I saw this group of birds in the distant sky flying together to the west probably over the river, eh, maybe closer. There were maybe 10 or 12 birds in this group. They were going into and out of formation like a group of ducks, but they were not ducks. They were black against the grey sky and I watched them fly together changing shape, going from a diagonal line made of tiny dots to a cluster of dots and all in between and all staying together. It was so pretty and interesting for my eyes to watch. It's hard to verbalize, but it almost didn't look real to me, like maybe more of an animation. I liked how the dots seemed to be swimming in some sort of organized chaos that my eyes didn't understand but loved.

Too sunny to work

Greetings from the jeep in the parking lot at the barbershop! It's almost porchlike. It just comes with responsibility. Which is totally not porchlike at all. If someone drives in to this lot, I very well may have to go back inside and cut some hair. The thought of it kinda sucks, but the money is good. And I GOTTA HAVE MONEY!!! MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND!! Money means happiness!! Money means...... diddly poo poo to me. I think I'll go live in a cave. But my kids probably wouldn't like that. No electricity for the Xbox.

Looky... the barbershop has a porch of sorts.
But it's not comfy and it doesn't have an awesome cd playing that my boyfriend made for me and it's too close to the actual workplace. I would be too much in the monetary zone. Besides, no sun.
In the spring I need the sun like a little green shoot needs the sun to get going for the growing season.

another possibility is OUT BACK behind the shop. This is a nice sunny spot without so much traffic noise, but again without the wonderful cd and in close proximity to the monetary zone. However, it does provide better bird watching and listening, so it is not without merit.
Here I sit.
I am thinking it's about to time to bleach my hair again. I really like it like that. I wonder if I'm gonna make it all fall out. Hmm. That is not the look I'm going for. I don't wanna worry about thinning hair. Why worry? Worrying is a waste of time. Why change my look? Because that's my favorite look.
Why don't we move on to a new topic.

Zero 7
I couldn't stop listening to Zero 7 tonight. It's really nice to listen to on my walk for one thing. But then I started watching videos too when I got home. They are in my top 10 of favorite bands I think. Currently. Maybe forever. But um I sure wish i could put a link on here. Can I? I am so unknowledgeable about computer shit. I found their video for Destiny and I think it's the best video ever. I love Speed Dial #2. I love Sia's voice. I love Home. I love Zero 7...I want MORE ZERO 7!

Sunday Porch Sitting 2010
Best day of the year. Porchwise. Weatherwise. And it's a darn good thing because it's not the best day of the year for me attitudewise. Being out here on my porch is the best thing for me! Nothing better than watching a good squirrel chase for lightening my mood! And feeling that warm sun through thin clouds.
I can see myself reflected in my computer screen. hello there me. Not likin' my hair today. I look a little bit disgusted with myself. How true. Today is Be Hard on Myself Day! Losery Day.
Oh shit. Chatty neighbor. He has a booger in his nose!!
So uh, not sure what I feel like doing.
Calling Aimee Lynn.....
Hello back from a visit to Tony's. Trevor and Tony were hooking up the Bose system and I cooked green peppers and onions to eat with the sausages. Tasty! Alex and Zack were hanging around too.
Now it's a great time to hang out on the porch some more. It's still light out!! Getting cooler, but still nice.
Why am I blogging? Why aren't i just writing in my journal. This is silly.

On Cats and Starlings

This is Roly Poly and she enjoys a bit of porch sitting in the sun as well!! Roly Poly came with the house when I bought it. The reason that I like her is that she likes me. There are several other cats around here that I do not apprecaite. Boy have I become hardened. I used to love every animal under the sun, now I plot the deaths of many an unneutered male cat. Sigh.
And while we're at it, I'm not so fond of the starlings right now because they keep hanging out on the upper east side of my house and pooping everywhere. Their white poop shows up really nicely on my green house. But I am not plotting death for them. Yet.
And don't get me wrong... I like cats. It's just that we seemed to have cornered the market on skanky bad cats here on east 4th street. Truth.
I hear a mourning dove. And a woodpecker. And a chick-a-dee-dee-dee.
And I see a Xavier. And an Evan. Hey boys! My boys aren't here. Max is at an AAU tournament sans parents, and Beck went to the bowling alley to hang with Collier. So here is Jane, porch sitting with occasional quiet. Nice.

Porch Sitting Saturday

I am sitting on my porch. In the sun. That seems monumental to me. It's been months since I could do this and it's my favorite thing to do. Jane Vonderheide: Porch Sitter. Happy Porch Sitter!!! Good things happen on Jane's porch. Like bird watching, and thinking and reading and the occasional neighborly chat. And face warming. I love face warming in the spring!!
Oooo quiet. That doesn't happen very often. And it was only for about 10 seconds. But it was very quiet. But even when it's super quiet, it's not quiet because I can hear something electrical around here. Annoying!! Some sort of background buzzing. And way too many cars going by. But still, every now and then, quiet. Birds are totally acceptable. They are part of the quiet. It's the people shit that is the noise. It's the people shit that needs to SHUT UP FOR A MINUTE!! How can most people even see nature for all the people shit? No wonder people are so caught up in their people shit.... they can't see anything else. And they can't hear anything else either for all the people shit noise.
And I think some people are afraid of the quiet. That's really bizarre.

Hello Again!
Hello! Almost bed time but I thought I'd follow up on my evening. Dinner at Chickiepoos was DELICIOUS!!! I had maple glazed trout and spaghetti squash and some rockin rice which I'd never even seen before. Great salad too. Great conversation with Kay... Thanks Kay!!! Love Kay. Chitty chatted the night away. The chickiepoos people were fabulous. Real folks, and there's nothing better than real. REAL. I love Madison.
Also a visit to the Thomas Family Winery for one last glass of wine. Nice time, more good chat. Good background music thanks to Steve Thomas, and John Walburn and others I can't name. :)
Nice chat with Tony before bed, even if he was grumpy. Don't be grumpy Tony. You have a wonderful life!!! IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE!!!
He's awesome.
So, just a few hours of work tomorrow. Then a few days off. I love a few days off. That's a good topic for another day.
Ciao for now.

Hello!

My first post EVA! And I don't even have anything exciting to say! Just sitting in the barbershop not cutting any hair and wishing it was 36 minutes from now. Jane Jane Jane, don't wish your life away. Find a way to enjoy here and now. Oh, here comes a haircut.....
I'm back! He was a nice enough fella. And I believe he was pleased with his cut.
Today is March 5th, 2010. And I am a blogger. And I am going to dinner at Chickiepoos tonight with my friend Kay Stokes. And I have a wonderful boyfriend, who is Tony Novello. And I have a happy life in Madison, Indiana. And I have two interesting children who are Max and Beck DeVito. My life is good. Good. Good. Thank you.
